Expectant Prayers ®

On Wednesday, the "Ultrasound Bill" was passed overwhelmingly with a 91-23 vote in the South Carolina State House.  This bill requires every woman seeking abortion to have an ultrasound and subsequently review the ultrasound images with her physician before an abortion would be performed.   Personally, I love this bill.  I find abortion to be morally wrong and unconscionable in the day and time we are living in. 

 I have spent a lot of time researching abortion statistics nationwide.  State by state statistics seem to mirror the national averages.  Some of the best statistics I found were on www.mccl.org (a Minnesota site) and www.abortionfacts.com. 
The statistics say it all. Most abortions- 74%-  are still performed because the woman feels that the pregnancy interferes with work, school, or other responsibilities.   73% say they can't afford a baby.  48% say that they do not want to be a single parent or that they are having relationship troubles.  Less than 2% of all abortions are performed due to rape or incest.

Life has become disposable in our country- aborting around a million and a half babies per year!   How can we continue to shake our fists at an Almighty God and expect Him to continue to bless our nation when we are killing our young?

There are so many things we can choose in this life and we hear a lot about "choice" when it comes to a woman's body and reproduction.  I believe God made us with this awesome power to choose, but not outside of His laws, either.  Choose to kill an unborn baby, it's selective reproduction.  Choose to kill a child already born... it's murder?   How are they different?  In my book, once a woman becomes pregnant, her power to choose is now over and she has someone else to think about over her own wants/needs/desires.   What about the choice to not sleep around?  What about the choice to use contraception?  What about the choice to not have sex outside of marriage?  Those were all choices that the mother made before an innocent life came into the picture.

If you look around online long enough, you can also find stirring stories online from abortion survivors such as Gianna Jessen.  She was a survivor of a "botched" saline abortion and lived to tell about it.  Link to  http://www.abortionfacts.com/survivors/giannajessen.asp to read her story.

These precious promises of God do not have a voice.  I applaud the state of South Carolina for attempting to break the silence and speak a message from the unborn to mothers who contemplate abortion.
