Christ; The Power to Overcome

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."   Romans…

Random Thoughts - We're Back From the Hoosier State

Our Memorial Day trip to visit my sister's family ended yesterday.  What a trip it was!  We had so much fun and I think the kids laughed non-stop while we were there.  My kids enjoyed playing with their cousins (especially the wii) and even the dog-cousins seemed to enjoy one another.  Aunt Sharo…

I've Gotta Testify: God Showed Me How Easy It Can Be

"So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord.."  2 Timothy 1:8a (NIV)Earlier this week, I was sitting in the dentist's office while one of my little boys was having some work done.  I decided to take a book along with me this time instead of "working" on other stuff, so as soon…

This Moment

Our hearts and prayers go out today to the Steven Curtis Chapman family as they lost their little 5 year old daughter, Maria Sue, yesterday afternoon.  Apparently the accident occurred at the family home in Franklin, TN - an older brother ran over her in the family SUV.  You can only imagine what th…

Rules Don't Apply to Me

I saw a kid the other day wearing a T-Shirt that read "Rules Don't Apply to Me" .  Wow!  That sure says a lot.  Isn't it enough to think  it... you also have to advertise it???    I'd sure hate to be that's kid's teacher if that's really how he lives his life.

Sadly, he's probably one of an ar…

Carpe Diem - Seize the Day!

I don't know if you've spent any time at graduations this year, but if you haven't... you have to admit that the "spirit" is in the air.  We can't drive anywhere without teen cars displaying white shoe polish declaring "2008 Graduate" or things like that.  Neighborhood streets were lined with cars t…

Over _______ People Served!

"...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve"  Matthew 20:28a      I am old enough to remember the old McDonald's signs that had the little guy on them and one arch instead of the two "M" shaped French-fries.    They were 'old' back when I …

A reminder for all of you out there who have access to The Pentecostal Evangel through your church... tomorrow is THE issue that you'll want to see.  It's all about the use of technology in our modern day world and my sister, Sharon, is featured in and article appearing in it!  I'm so proud of her, …

Are You Flexible?

Exercise is something I enjoy and this month I am teaching my class of girls (Stars) on Wednesday nights about "Fitness".   It seemed like a good unit to work on, especially since the weather is nice...we can go outside and get active.  Personally, I'm just now making an asserted effort to get "work…

Update on Mom - The Battle of the MIND(S)

Mom has made some progress - or at least she sounds stronger and more energetic every time I talk to her on the phone.   BUT, there is an underlying  sense I am getting through the Spirit that the enemy is still trying his best to reap havoc.  Hands off, devil!!!

She had a doctor's visit yesterda…

Another Year Makes 36!

"You have crowned the year with Your bounty, And Your paths drip with fatness."  Psalm 65:11 Well, I'm another year older today!  I know, I know...you got a kick out of the verse. Hey, who said "fatness" had to be a bad thing.  You're talking to a woman who has had 8 pregna…

Home and Resting; Prayers Continue...

Mom was released from the hospital late yesterday afternoon and made the trip home.  Sharon said it was not an easy trip and Mom is still very weak, but they got her into her own bed where she can rest now and recover.    She is on antibiotics for the C Diff and will be for around 7 more days.  In t…

Is That the White Flag I See? Mom's Update 8:15 CST

My boys watch a lot of NASCAR and Indy.   I've learned simply by their interest that there are certain colored flags racing officials show the drivers in order to communicate with them about the race:

Green - Start of the Race
Yellow - Caution
Yellow Red Stripe - Debris on the track
Black - Penalty

A Reminder of Why We Pray

Mom continues to improve and I was able to talk to her yesterday afternoon.  When I called she was out of bed and up flossing her teeth!  She sounds stronger with each passing day and I know that she is a living, walking, breathing testimony of the power of God!    There is power in prayer and I hop…

Quick Update - 3:20 EST

Mom got moved into her private room this morning around 11pm.  She didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night because she kept thinking that they were going to move her bed!  Thankfully, the room she is in now is nice and comfy - so we think Mom will get some rest.

My brother-in-law said that Mom r…

Picture Arrived!

Oops!  I spoke too soon (and I should have known better than to doubt my high-tech-talented sister).  I just got a picture of Mom via e-mail and I would have to say that she didn't look too bad!  It was good to get a look at her.  I hope she is doing even better today.  I would love to share, but I …
