Expectant Prayers ®

Today's News

Yesterday was a comfortable sixty degrees here in KC.  Today is a different story with more snow expected this weekend.  It's hard to explain to kids why yesterday they could go out and play all afternoon without a coat- but NOT today.   At least they had a little reprieve from their cabin fever on Tuesday.  Too bad it doesn't tide them over for very long.  Thing 1 and Thing 2 seem to be getting into everything they aren't supposed to be getting into today and have been asking for food all day.  What are they, little baby bears getting ready to hibernate????  I just gave them each a little bowl of dry Cheerios, so hopefully that will keep them occupied for at least 5 more minutes.

We had our taxes done yesterday and the bottom line was pretty positive.  I always dislike getting the taxes done.  I think it's a little depressing to witness how much money the government has taken from your hard earned paycheck each year.  Yet, I know that taxes are necessary and a part of the structure of our blessed nation.
Divinely, the Lord has always watched out for us when tax time has come around.   The only time I remember having to pay anything was back when we were first married and living in Springfield.  I still don't know what happened there, but we owed.  I remember how awful it seemed to have to pay anything.

I am taking over my daughter's class at church for the evening, in which I am normally a helper.  Her regular teacher is vacationing in California.   I know, I know.  Her life is so rough!  At least that's what I tell her.
It shouldn't be too bad because we are reviewing (many girls were gone last week due to the weather) and we are testing on some things that we've needed to take care of.

My husband is getting ready to test for a higher position at work.   He also had to come up with a new resume with updated skills, etc. for the new job.  He has a good chance of getting the position, but if he doesn't, there will probably be another promotional opportunity in the late summer.  If that were the case, he wouldn't have to test again in the summer.  So either way, it's worth shooting for.  LOL.  This process for the current available position is due to be completed by March 1st, so we won't have to wait long for the outcome.  That in itself is a blessing.  I am praying for the promotion (either now or in the summer) because it means more income for our family - and with him as the primary source if income, that would mean a lot to us.

Finally, our friend Steve had back surgery today to repair a damaged disc.  His wife, Laura, said that he is doing fine and will be up and around soon, but for the next 2 days is encouraged not to move much.  After that, he'll need to walk a lot to promote healing in the disc.  Recovery is expected to take 6-8 weeks.  We are praying for mobility to return to the back, for swelling to be minimal, and for recovery to be speedy.

Have a terrific Wednesday and we'll see you tomorrow!
