Spring Break - What Can You Do????

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."
 Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT)

For many parents, this week marks Spring Break from school.  Might I suggest a pair of ear plugs to drown out the "Mom, I'm bored!"

Our vacation starts next week, but I am sure it won't be long enough.  It never is; for me, anyway.

One of the greatest mysteries of childhood behavior is:  Why do they wait and wait for break to come and then when it's here, they can't wait to get back to school?    Like the boy who asked the owl, "How long does it take to get to the center of the tootsie pop?", I guess sometimes we learn through experience  that we can take as big of a bite out of life as we want to.  It's all about how we look at things.  You can learn to savor vacation over a period of time or "crunch" your way through a gazillion things, but either way- you're out of a tootsie pop at the end!

HERE'S SOME YES AND NO LISTS THAT MY KIDS HELPED MAKE:

Here are a list of things that kids DO NOT WANT to do on Spring Break:

Clean their Rooms
Clean out their Closet
Go Shopping for Spring Clothes
Read or do Homework/Reports
Help with Chores
Go to the dentist or doctor (OOPS, I broke this one already!)
Yard Work
Clean out the Garage
Practice the piano or anything else
Dig out all the junk under their bed
Walk the Dog
Go anywhere they don't want to go

Here is a list of things that kids would WANT to do on Spring Break:

Play Outside
Have Lunch Somewhere Fun
Take a Picnic to the park
Ride Bikes or go to some trails
Do nothing...nothing at all
Take a short trip somewhere fun
Visit with friends or family
Have a pizza
Play Games
Eat some junk
Stay up late and get up late
Stay in bed all day and watch TV
Take pictures and scrapbook

Have a great Spring Break and we hope your family finds a lot of FUN and MEMORABLE things to do!
