Praying for Families

Today I am praying for families; that God would raise them up, meet their needs, and give them fresh vision and direction for the new year.   Although we all have similar needs (financial, relational, parenting, vocational, educational, material, health, etc) the specific needs of each family are ardently unique.

Whether you are married or not, there is one thing that is certain, there are people in your life that you consider family.  Even those who have grown up orphaned or abandoned have people in their lives that fill the void of blood relation.  In fact, some people in your life may be closer than blood relation!

Whoever is in your life that you consider family, take their names before the throne of God's grace and mercy today.  If you know a specific need, pray over it.  If God places someone on your heart today, be sure to whisper a prayer for them!

Lord,
Thank you for the institution of families that You have created us to live within.  I ask that You touch families today and meet the needs of their bodies, souls, and minds.  Be the steadying force in any storm they may be facing today and calm the winds that blow doubt, frustration, and hopelessness.   Grant them peace and steady their path with clear direction for a future.    Knit families together with cords of love that cannot be broken by the tactics of the world or the enemy.  Strengthen each member to function as they should.   Where there is a need of healing, I pray that you would restore and apply Your balm of Gilead.  Repair broken walls and restore.  Transform families into what You would have them to be and give them strength to not conform to the patterns of this world.   Instill a firm foundation; poured from your Word and a close relationship with You.    Create balance in homes that so many families strive to attain.  Empower parents to interact with their children and to be consistent in parenting.    I ask that You bless them abundantly and show them that You are working in their lives today.  May Your hand be on families today!  Amen.

Prayer is God's road which fetches forth streams of blessing from the rock of affliction.                                                                                       - C.H. Spurgeon
