Why is it so HOT in Here????

Yesterday was our first day back to school for the 2007-2008 session.  Yes, I know what you're thinking about the clip art; the bus doesn't have to travel very far at my house!  LOL
Usually I try to wake up several hours early during school to have time to myself, prepare for the day, and get some chores done.  So, yesterday I was up at 5am!  I sure got a lot done though.  I've always been more of a morning person and that's when I thrive!

One thing that drew my attention yesterday was the temperature.  Even at 6am it was well over 70 degrees and I knew it was going to be a scorcher.  In the afternoon, we were able to spend several hours in the pool which was nice.  Still, the water was 85 degrees!  That tells you how stifling it was out.  I think I notice the heat more because I am pregnant.   I'm sure a lot of you can understand!  I am always HOT.  But, back to the story at hand...

Levi heard me out in the kitchen, so he was also up at the crack of dawn (around 6am).  I fed him some breakfast and gave him instructions to go and clean his room and get dressed.   Levi complained that it was cold in the house.  He went off toward his room.  "Cold?", I thought.  He had to be kidding.
I wasn't doing all that much and was already sweating.  In fact, right then I heard the air kick on and mused that it was hot enough out for the air conditioner to kick on.  This time of year it's not uncommon for the unit to run 24/7, you know????

I started working in the school room and noticed a strange "smell".   I just dismissed it because I thought it was coming from a lamp in the school room that hadn't been on for several months that may have been burning off the dust.

About that time,  Moses emerged from the basement.  I also told him to go and get dressed and then come up to eat.  Several minutes later, he returned and went over to his desk to get ready for class.  There is a vent by his desk.  As he stood by it, he asked "Mom, why is the air coming out of the vent HOT?"    Then it all made sense to me.... why I was hot... the strange smell....

That ornery Levi had turned on the heater!!!!

Luckily we caught it fast enough that it didn't have time to heat up the house.  Can you imagine???

Of course, Levi got the lecture of "Why we don't mess with the thermostat."  Hopefully, he won't be doing that again.
