Expectant Prayers ®

What's Up, America???

Yesterday felt like the hottest day yet, as we welcomed the first day of summer!    Celeste and Grandma Weiss went searching for a formal for Celeste's Honor Star Crowning and the rest of us pretty much stayed inside until early evening.  In the meantime, I worked out on my gazelle and did some other chores around the house...all while watching TV.  I watched more than I normally would yesterday, but it left me with a burning question... WHAT IN THE WORLD IN GOING ON IN AMERICA?

For a long time now, I have felt that America  is going downhill.  Hey, I don't have to look too far in my own neighborhood to reinforce my opinion...or my own TV set.    Things they show on television, even in the daytime, would make our grandparents faint!  Even my kids get upset with the commercials that show people in their underwear or in provocative situations.  It was also my kids who pointed out to me that most of the "kids shows" that are on depict family units with divorced parents, split homes, and blended families.   Way to go, folks, for upholding great morals....ahem.

Things of recent have made me wonder about our judicial system, such as the celerity "princesses"  that continue to rack up DUI's, yet seem to be under a different set of laws than everyone else.  So if you have money and status, you can do whatever you want?   Does that include underage drinking and breaking the law?   Hmmm.  Makes a person wonder.

Then there are the celebrities who use their fame to promote political views... oh, you just have to love them!  One inparticular (who will remain nameless) I cannot stomach.  She's all over the news right now having interviews, etc. and talking about her "world views"...  as if she (simply because she is beautiful to some, has money, status, and can afford to jot around the world on a whim) has the wisdom of the ages.   In my opinion, this woman is NOT a roll model.  She had an affair with someone else's husband, got pregnant by him (I don't think they are married still), and now is adopting kids from all over the world.... and why?   A person has to wonder what the motivation is behind all of it.  Yeah, well a lot of us have a "world view" from being in church all of our lives and learning about home and foreign missions.  You also can't neglect your own country's needs.  It seems very noble to travel to far off places to spread your "compassion", but what about America?  Do you realize that other countries are not sending missionaries to America because it is becoming Godless?  Think about that!
 I have to ask myself are these type of people really meeting a need in the world?  They go overseas and have their picture taken with the suffering, but are they forking out boatloads of money to help them?   Meanwhile, we have churches and other religious organizations that are huge in missions... giving to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.  Many people give out of their own need to help others.   Better for God to say, "Well done" than a fan base of millions chanting YOUR praises.

I do like to watch Fox and other news channels, but even the truth and reality of today's headlines can make your blood boil.   Here locally, the teenage girl kidnapped and killed, a pregnant women being kidnapped in Ohio, the security of our borders, the North American Union, the death toll rising in the war, the presidential candidates all contending for their moment in the spotlight... where is this taking us as a nation?

America, America, God shed His grace on thee....

A few days ago, a friend of mine forwarded me this article that I saw several years ago, but is worth looking at.  The author is unknown.

SCARY PREDICTION!!!!!!!!!

Subject: How Long Do We Have?

 About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new
 Constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor
 at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of
 the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

 "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist
 as a permanent form of government."

 "A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters
 discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public
 treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates
 who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the
 result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose
 fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

 "The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the
 beginning of history, has been about 200 years"

 "During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the
 following sequence:

 1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
  2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
  3. from courage to liberty;
 4. from liberty to abundance;
  5. from abundance to complacency;
  6. from complacency to apathy;
  7. from apathy to dependence;
  8. From dependence back into bondage"

 Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St.
 Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the
 2000 Presidential election:   (not included here)

 Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
 "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
 democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population
 already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

 If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million
 criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say
 goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

BTW- if you haven't looked over the preamble or the constitution lately, it's worth a look to remember all that our forefathers intended for us to be "free".  Are we now a slave to our freedoms; our laws open to interpretation to fit the needs of whomever is wanting to break them?

Please remember to pray for our country, especially as our national reminder of Independence (the 4th of July) is coming up in a week and a half.     Blessings!
