Expectant Prayers ®

What if Jesus Were President?

This is an adaptation from an article I wrote last year  - April 2008- , "What WILL Jesus Do?"

What if Jesus were President or better yet... leader of the entire world?  It makes you really stop and think, doesn't it?  How would things change?   For starters, think about the things that effect your everyday life... say, like television.  What would be on TV?  Do you think there would be smutty programs with explicit behavior and foul language, or commercials with women or men running around in their underwear?  Or what about our laws?  How would the laws change if Jesus was in charge?  Would abortion be banned? Would there be a need for jails or policemen?  Would there be filthy rich people, celebrity idols, or hungry children in third world countries?  How would you act and change your behavior?   Would it be strange to know that Jesus Christ was walking the earth and ruling in Jerusalem?  Would you still have to pray?

The fact is EVERYTHING would change!

I was watching a show the other night that really spoke to me. It was about "The Coming Kingdom of Christ".  Although I didn't agree with some of the things that were said, it got me to thinking beyond the rapture, beyond the tribulation,  and to the millennial reign of Christ.  One day, Jesus will have all government on His shoulders!

What's the millennial reign of Christ?  As Christians we believe that there will be a day when Christ Himself will rule and reign in this world; a period that we have come to call the "Millennial Reign of Christ".  Its a time when those who have been found faithful will rule and reign with Him for a period of one thousand years.  This is a literal kingdom ruled by Jesus Himself here on earth.

At that time, the world will have undergone a dramatic barrage of evil, including the rule of the Anti-Christ as well as the other terrifying events that surround the Great Tribulation.
When Christ comes, the devil will be bound and thrown into the abyss.  ( Revelation 20:2-4)

What will happen during this 1,000 years?

Israel is re-gathered from the nations (Matthew 24:31;Zechariah 12:10-14), and restored to the land under the ruler-ship of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of the conditions during the Millennium as a perfect environment physically and spiritually. It will be a time of peace (Micah 4:2-4; Isaiah 32:17-18- joy (Isaiah 61:7,10); comfort (Isaiah 40:1-2); and no poverty (Amos 9:13-15) or sickness (Joel 2:28-29). It will be a time of complete righteousness (Matthew 25:37; Psalm 24:3-4); obedience (Jeremiah 31:33); holiness (Isaiah 35) truth (Isaiah 65:16); and fullness of the Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28-29). Christ will rule as king (Isaiah 9:3-7; 11:1-10), with David as regent (Jeremiah 33:15,17,21; Amos 9:11). Nobles and governors will also rule (Isaiah 32:1; Matthew 19). Jerusalem will be the “political” center of the world (Zechariah 8:3).

At the beginning of the Millennium, only believers will be alive (Revelation 19:17-21), some who live through the Tribulation Period, and some who come back with the Lord at His second coming. It will be a time of peace unparalleled in history (Isaiah 2:4; Joel 3:10; Micah 4:3). Jesus will be ruling on the throne of David, imposing a benevolent theocracy on all of His creation. Jesus will ensure that everyone has every need fulfilled, while not tolerating the sin so prevalent in today's society (Psalm 2:7-12; Revelation 2:26-29; 12:5; 19:11-16). We can only imagine such a time of “heaven on earth."   (source:  gotquestions.org)

So there you have it... a time of unprecedented peace for the entire world... coming soon!

The problem is, a lot of people want this peace now and are looking for "men" and our own power to fulfill what only God can achieve.    They are not looking for Him to come.

It's something interesting to think about!  For me, it brought a fresh insight and greater awareness from "What Would Jesus Do"  to "What Will Jesus Do"... and somehow it's touched my daily walk!

Remember:  The World always has been, is, and will be in HIS hands!

There will be no post on Saturday, March 7th.   See you back here on Monday!
