Walking By Faith and Not By Sight

"For we walk by faith, not by sight"
2 Corinthians 5:7

Have you ever gone through a situation where you think in your mind, "Things aren't looking so good for me"?   Maybe you're the little dog going up against the big dog.  Maybe you're weighing a big bill against a zero balance.  Maybe you thought you would "win" and the scoreboard says 38 to 7.  Appearances have a way of deceiving. At times, our eyes can trick us.

Many times, God is calling us for an "ever increasing need for faith" (David Wilkerson calls it)  that brings us beyond human abilities and reasoning and into the truly supernatural realm.  God wants us to realize that with Him, we have a steady rock to cling to; a true source of security to put our hope and trust in.

Why is it so hard to take a leap of faith?  Is it because we lack faith in the beginning or because we really haven't learned that God really is who He claims to be?   Maybe a little of both and other reasons as well.

Once my sister told me that the Lord gave her a vision for a situation I was in at the time.  "It's like Indiana Jones when he is faced with the cavern.   He had to walk off the edge before he realized that there was a bridge to walk on.  He just couldn't see it because it was camouflaged in with the rest."  Then she told me that sometimes we have to just make that leap and trust God is there.  Isn't that a little like Peter who decided to put his eyes on Jesus and walk on water?  Seems pretty impossible, yet he was able to accomplish the unimaginable because His eyes were fixed on the one who made everything possible.

Our Christian walk should be one where faith is continually exercised.  It's a "muscle" that needs built up because in turn it gives our spirit man strength to endure.  Romans 1:17 says, "The just shall live by faith".    We increase our faith by using it and by hearing and applying the Word.  Our faith is counted to us as righteousness.

Don't forget also that God goes before you and is also your rear guard (plus He walks with you no matter what you face).  God is the Alpha and the Omega, literally "the beginning and the end".   If He was with you at the beginning of your life/situation, He will certainly be there at end of what you are going through.

So, if you have been a little short sighted with the awesomeness and wonder of the Almighty, relying on self or things rather than on Him to be your source, let me encourage you today to pray for faith so that you can walk by faith and not by sight.

Blessings friends!

Side Note:  We have been sick with the flu since Monday, so I will try to get a few of Shad's birthday pictures posted soon!
