Today, I have the extreme pleasure of hosting my sister's family from Indiana at our house. You would think we are "Minute Men" because everyone is running excitedly proclaiming, "The family's coming, the family's coming!" I haven't made contact yet this morning, so I don't know exactly WHEN to expect them, but I was told to plan for sometime after lunch. I am preparing as if they could be here at any time!!!!
I didn't have much time for house work with the wedding this weekend (the wedding was fabulous and dazzling in many ways- I'll tell you about it later this week). As I was mopping the dining room floor, a Biblical passage popped into my mind:
"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." Luke 12:35-40
Ah, that passage speaks for itself on so many levels!
Spiritually speaking, however, Isn't that how we should be going about EVERY day? Excited that our Lord and Savior might be coming back TODAY? Are we prepared and ready, watching for his return?
Even though we don't know the hour, we know He's coming. It's enough to make this servant SHOUT!
Take care and I'll catch you tomorrow!
The Family is Coming, the Family is COMING!
