Expectant Prayers ®

My Soul Magnifies the Lord

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior."
Luke 1:46-47

Wow!  Did you have a great Christmas?

Will you be eating a lot of left overs like we are here???  At least we have some creative ways to "repackage" some of the leftovers into other dishes!

We had a wonderful Christmas here in the Big Weiss family.  I have to say that it was the most peaceful, reflective, and meaningful Christmases that we've had in years!!

This year wasn't about presents, holiday baking (though we did plenty), mailing off a bucket load of cards, family get-togethers, or Christmas productions/activities...our total focus was on the Lord.   I am very grateful and humbled that the Lord gave us such a tremendous opportunity that we could do that.

Our Christmas day began with family prayer and ended with family prayer. We also read the entire Christmas story in the evening (which we do every year- but not always on Christmas day).  We read  clear from the conception of John the Baptist through Jesus' birth and then flipped over to Matthew to read about the visit of the Magi.  What a tremendous time.  God's presence was so thick and real in our home; it was a true blessing.  "Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!" Psalm 103:1

One thing that bothered me about the season was the abundance of Christmas programming on TV. Most shows had very little to do about the real meaning of Christmas... Jesus.  It's all about "self" or "Santa"!  I commented to my husband that I can't believe people would encourage their children to believe in Santa, but NOT in Jesus Christ!   I wish every family would know Him and His goodness.  "Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!"  Psalm 107:21

Jesus shouldn't be remembered just one day a year, either.  He should be a daily guest in our homes, at our meals, in our conversations, and in our activities.  "It is not I who liveth, but Christ who liveth in me."  Galatians 2:20   "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."  Galatians 5:25

The day after Christmas is bringing much activity.  We plan on going around KC and doing some things together as a family.   It's nice to be able to enjoy one another!

We're looking forward to a New Year and anticipate great things in the Lord in 2007!  We always make a new prayer list for the New Year and then review last years list.  It's a great way to see how God's answered prayers and what direction He has led us in the past year.  We have so much to be thankful for!

Also, a quick update on the nephew:  His surgery was on Friday and his right hand is in a cast.  He will have to undergo physical therapy and we are praying for mobility and full range of motion to return to his damaged finger!  Please continue to pray for Tim Jr.  My sister sent us some photos of the day of surgery.  If you are interested in viewing them, please go to:   www.hoosierfamily06.blogspot.com     (You may have to copy and paste into your browser)   OR you may click on the Favorites above my tagboard.

BLESSINGS TO ALL!
