Expectant Prayers ®

Jennifer Jo Weiss

Living One Day at a Time

God doesn't expect us to figure out our tomorrows or worry about them.  He doesn't want us to be anxious about anything.  When we fully trust Him, we show our dependence to Him by our faith; not our doubts.  The Word tells us that a person who doubts is like the sea... tossed to and fro.  If we really want peace in our lives, we need to understand that God is in charge of each day, each hour, each minute.    Looking toward the future in an uncertain situation instead of where we are today can shift our focus off of the Lord and quickly set us into the sea of doubt.

This morning in prayer, I was directed to God's Word in Matthew chapter six where He says not to worry about our lives.

" (25a) Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life.... (27) who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?...(33-34) But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be given you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of it's own."

So I pose a simple question today.  Is God the Lord of today?

He has promised to give us our daily bread (provide what we have need of each day- spiritual, physical, and emotional).  Just like when He taught the children of Israel about supplying needs in the wilderness... the manna was given daily.  They were instructed not to hoard or store more than what they needed that day, except for the Sabbath (as they were not to do any work).  He wanted their total dependence for sustenance.

That's all we need to be concerned about, especially during times of struggle or trial... living one day at a time.

Blessings to you today, friend!  May the Lord supply your needs today according to His riches in glory.  I am praying that God will make His presence evident to you and that you'll know without a doubt that He is LORD over all things.

We're also praising God that yesterday marked the one year anniversary of (my sister) Sharon's cancer surgery.  We believe God healed her!  She is doing well and showing low CA-125 levels each time she goes to the doctor.  To read more about her story, you can link to her website above the tagboard in the "Favorite" box or simply go to hoosierfamily06.blogspot.com
