Expectant Prayers ®

Hellos and Goodbyes

The cold winter winds are blowing in and as predicted, the "fire tree" across the road is starting to turn.  This is a highly anticipated event around here.  Hello color!

You can see it peeking through the trees.  Of course, this was a dreary day as the clouds were still spitting little drizzly drips from the sky.  When the sun comes out, it looks like my favorite fall tree is ON FIRE!  What a sight.  It's only about 1/4 turned in this picture.

Yesterday was also a momentous day, in the fact my husband and father-in-law decided to get Grandma's car ready for sale.  Yes, our 96 yr. old grandmother has finally had her license expire.  I know many of you are saying "Hallelujah!".  It does makes me feel a little better knowing she isn't going to get plowed over or heaven forbid do it to someone else.  And by the way, Grandma, how did that rear tail light get cracked?????

Really, she didn't drive her call all that much.  She just went a flew blocks away from the nursing home to get her hair done once a week and occasionally  met with friends on Saturdays for a quick luncheon.  She hates the food at the Plaza where she stays!

It's been hard to watch the dissolving of possessions and the sale of her house.  Now with her car gone, she has lost one last little tool of independence.

Now, don't feel too bad.  She can still get out and about with friends from her church or by way of the nursing home transportation.  We also take her out when we visit her. For 96, she's quite a feisty little thing.  So, today we bid farewell to the car!  Goodbye old friend!

On a final note, Henry the kitten is feeling better over at Grandma W's house.  Sunday, he was suffering from what the emergency clinic vet said was a "sprain".  We are just glad he isn't sick with something awful!    They gave him some feline pain medicine and sent him home, where he is reportedly perking up a bit.

Grandma got the two new kittens a few weeks ago and they are really growing fast.  The children beg me every day to take them to G's house so that they can play with them!  Hello to two new animal members of the Big Weiss Family.   MEOW!

***UPDATE AT 4PM- Henry was taken to the Vet and has a raging infection somewhere and is running a high fever.  The kids and I are praying for Henry.  Yes, God cares for our pets, too!!!***
