In light of this Christmas season, I am reflecting on the children across the world - and guess what... it starts in our own backyard. We get so wrapped up in our own hopes and dreams for the holidays that we many times fail to do to others. What are we doing to help guide and nurture the generations of tomorrow or extend hope and help to those who are less fortunate in our communities? It could start by putting that dollar into the red kettle for the Salvation Army, participating in Operation Christmas Child, sponsoring a child the next time you go to your Family Bookstore, or donating clothes, food, or time to Goodwill or your local Harvesters. What does your church support? Perhaps you sponsor families in need, missionaries, or Angel Tree. Maybe you sponsor Convoy of Hope or other ministries that you feel led to give to. Everyone can do something - big or small.
What can we do to share the light of His love this coming year? Why wait until Christmas? You've been blessed to be a blessing. As servants of Christ, giving should be our lifestyle - not a once a year event.
Lord, help us to be Your hands, Your ears, Your feet, and Your voice to those around us. Move in us to show mercy, compassion, and love to others. May we be vessels of giving because You have abundantly blessed us. Compel us to give - even beyond what we'd hope or imagine. In Your name, Amen.
I am including this video today from You Tube... at the end you'll see some Operation Christmas Child photos.
