"EXTREME" LARRY, THE BAR BENDING WONDER
On Wednesday evening, we had a special event at our church... The Extreme Team! If you've ever seen the Power Team, that's what they are like. They travel around the world bringing their extreme feats to delighted crowds... feats like tearing phone books in half, exploding soda cans by various means, bending bars, and smashing through walls of bricks..with their HEAD! Our group was smaller, but it is said that they do even more extreme things at their larger events!
The best part is when they deliver the simple salvation message to the crowd. We had a number of children and youth go forward to accept or rededicate their lives to Christ. They use the demonstrations as examples for spiritual truths, like when the wall of bricks was broken through, it represented how Jesus came to break down the "wall" that stood between us and God. Very neat.
In the above picture, the Extreme Team member (on the right) decided to recruit Pastor Larry (Youth Minister) to bend a bar on his poor little bald head. Ouch, Larry. That had to hurt. He managed to get it bent like a bobby pin, with help from the ET guy. Of course, then the ET fellow bent it into a pretzel.
My 3 year old was in attendance and is very impressionable. We caught him banging his head on the cushioned chair during the end of the program (making his best crashing noises)... he was even trying to tear my topical Bible in half. Yeah, nice.
Overall, I would recommend this ministry resource to other churches. It's a very interesting way to share the gospel, especially for men and boys! We could all stand (in our own way) to get more EXTREME for GOD!
