Don't You Enjoy a Good Breakfast?

"He hath filled the hungry with good things."   Luke 1:53a KJV

With the cooler weather, we seem to enjoy different breakfasts than we did during the summer.   Our mornings of lighter cereals, fruit, or toast have been replaced with heavier, more "stick to your ribs"  kinds of foods.   Some of our favorites include: pancakes and sausage, eggs, bacon and toast, waffles, homemade pop-overs, or quiche.   This morning, we decided to have sausage gravy and biscuits (made from scratch).  We all enjoy helping with the cooking, but the best part (of course) is the eating.  I remember helping my mom make biscuits and now my kids help me!  My favorite are still Mom's buttermilk biscuits.  What a delicious tradition.

Around here, it doesn't take long for a meal to pass and then to hear,  "Mom, I'm hungry!"   That got me thinking again about how we are to feed our spirits daily.   We wouldn't go without eating for very long (well, unless you are fasting).  Our stomachs are constantly reminding us that we need to eat.   In fact, most of us eat at least 2-3 meals a day, not including snacks.

What have you fed your spirit today?  How often are we partaking from the WORD?  Do we actively seek to nourish our bodies with good things from the Lord?   Do we hunger after God with an unquenchable hunger???    When we neglect our daily time with the Lord, do we miss Him... do we notice at all?

Food for thought today.
