A Week of Healing

Pete still continues to improve each day, though I am a little concerned about his memory.  I wonder if  he may have received a concussion during the altercation... or perhaps it's basic post traumatic stress.   I have noticed that he repeats himself very frequently.  In fact, on Saturday, he relayed the same story to me five times within an hour and a half.  I will be glad to see the doctor tomorrow and have an update on his condition.
The wound looks like it's healing, but honestly, I have a lot of questions for the doctor.  I haven't dealt with an "open" wound before and I don't think the discharge papers from the hospital were very helpful.  For instance, on Saturday, there were little white "pockets" within the wound that when pressed would fester up fresh blood underneath.   I don't know what those were, but the next day they were gone!  Either the Lord touched him, or they weren't anything to worry about.

Meanwhile, he is getting bored with having to be in bed.  He is still resting, but I've noticed he is watching every testosterone filled program he can stand... boxing, wrestling, Cops, etc.  He even watched a 4 hour movie about Wyatt Earp!  What's that all about????   I think he's going through withdraw from work and has to fill his time somehow.

Luckily, last night we hosted an open house for all the officers that work on his shift.   The hours were from 10pm until 1 am.  It went very well.   I cooked up a full meal for everyone... a huge brisket, potato casserole, fresh baked rolls, a huge tossed salad, crock pot corn, and some Oreo "Cookie Fluff" for dessert.  Everyone ate and talked with Pete... it was really good for him.  Most of the officers hadn't seen Pete at all since his injury.  Of course, most were curious to see the wound and especially to find out how he was feeling.   We had planned this dinner night way before Pete was injured, but he decided it would be nice to go ahead and host it.  Turns out he was right.

On the baby news, my doctor ordered another ultrasound for me on Friday, which I went to this morning.  We were checking size and dates again.  According to the ultrasound, I am a week more than what the doctor thinks.  That's the same reading they had last time, but he kept me going with what HE thought was my original due date.   My C-Section is already scheduled, but if we keep that date, it will actually be after my due date (and that's not normal if you've had 2 previous C's).
According to my calculations, however, the C is scheduled just a day or two before my due date.    I'm sure the findings aren't going to influence my doctor's schedule at all... but I wouldn't be at all surprised if I do not make it to the scheduled date!     Some things we can't predict with 100% accuracy and delivery can be one of those things.  So am I uptight?  No way!  I am enjoying the last few days of my pregnancy... trying to savor each moment because I know it will be gone before I know it.

One more baby related comment... we got my belly mold done.  It was so neat!  I highly recommend it, especially for women who know they aren't going to have anymore.  It's such a great keepsake.
We still have some work to do on it, but it is still in the curing process.  Maybe tomorrow Pete can work on it a little.  He's so bored, it's giving him something to do!

Tomorrow I will try to catch up on some of the things I missed sharing due to the events of last week.  We've had Celeste's party and this weekend will be the combined party for the boys.  I would also like to share about the message I was able to deliver the Sunday evening before Pete was injured.  Finally, I need to update about my missionary friends who visited.  Hopefully I will get to those things before too long!

I will say, Titus had a tremendous time at camp!   He got a lot accomplished and seemed to come home more grown-up.  I'll never understand that, but it happens every time!!!!  I'm glad all the family is back under one roof.
